Art & Architecture
My friend Sarah sent me a link from the Dallas Morning News chronicling the progress of the new Winspear Opera House and the Wyly Theatre. I am so happy to see, despite new build projects have come to a screeching halt practically across the board, that this one is still going through- and at a pretty rapid pace! Thanks, Sarah for showing me these pictures! Some of the technology going into these buildings is just amazing. Take a look at the slide show.

ReplyDeleteThank you for posting these photos. I too am delighted to see work continuing on this project that are (and all the other ones, cranes-in-air, perhaps not of the same creative ilk). Hopefully, this is a harbinger that Dallas will not be as hard-hit in this recession. A little naive perhaps, but as the hackneyed adage so aptly expresses, "hope springs eternal."
More importantly, and to the point, however, this is a indeed a beautiful building that will dominate the Art's District diaspora of architecture.
The descriptive imagery is spectacular. Photojournalists seldom have an opportunity to languish in a location long enough to work their art, so kudos to them for celebrating an architectural work of art with a responding counterpoint of beautiful photographs.
